OChiSkwaCho is a sacred being, known to many Indigenous people as a spiritual messenger. Kokoom, an elderly (spiritually ailing) two-spirit woman has to decide whether to stay with her grandchildren or follow the OChiSkwaCho.

Director Statement

This film is a story about a sacred being known to many as Sasquatch. It is an old story, one that I was gifted with over a decade ago. My MoshKeKo Cree ancestors refer to this being as the OChiSkwaCho, a sacred messenger. This story is mine to tell, and one that derives from my people, more specifically my family. It is an Indigenous story that honours the spiritual realm and because of this, there were protocols that needed to be respectfully followed during all phases of production. In honouring our youth, the story follows a young Cree girl who is not ready to lose her Kokoom (grandmother), so she is forced to face her fears and make her plea with the spirit world.
